As JLo’s #1 fan and someone who still owns her Glow perfume, glowing skin is very important to me.  Just this past week, I was on vacation in Miami where everyone’s summer tan was at prime summer levels and bodies were on display everywhere you looked.   Here are some of my favorite ways to emulate that vacation glow year-round.

SWEAT IT OUT WITH INFRARED SPA TREATMENTS AT SHAPE HOUSE
I felt a little crazy driving to Studio City in the middle of a hot summer day to spend an hour in an infrared spa wrap, but the sweat sessions at Shape House are like nothing I’ve experienced before.  Here’s how it works: you arrive and change into sweats before laying on a massage table cocooned in an infrared blanket for the next 55 minutes of your life.  With your own private room, I was left to watch Netflix and sweat out the toxins.  It feels like a dry desert heat that slowly induces thick sweat beads out of your body.  Unlike a sauna or steam room, your head isn’t exposed to heat so it’s easy to breathe.  The treatment releases endorphins and gets your heart racing, burning an estimated 800-1600 calories per session.  After my session, I met the founder, Sophie Chiche, who left her busy life as a consultant in search of balance and a healthier lifestyle which led her to found Shape House.  Pro-Tip: drink TONS of water, like way more than you would after a massage because this session will leave you thirsty for days.  Shape House, LA & NYC

REHYDRATE WITH LIQUID I.V. HYDRATION ELECTROLYTE MIX
These powder packets are perfect pick-me-ups post-workout or while traveling when you may become dehydrated.  The science behind this mix was first developed by the World Health Organization to help combat dehydration worldwide, a mission the company continues today by donating products to those in need worldwide.  Over 21,000 servings were donated in 2017 to those affected by natural disasters.  Learn more about Liquid I.V.

USE AN EXFOLIANT TO SHED DRY SKIN
Blackheads and redness are my main skin concerns and finally, my prayers have been answered with Paula’s Choice BHA Exfoliant.  I use this after my Lancome toner before bed a few nights a week, and it is the first thing to ever actually remove blackheads and minimize the size of my pores–literally within days.  While you may get a few mild breakouts as you use it, more often than not the blackheads just dislodge themselves and can be scrubbed away with your normal cleansing routine.  If skin begins to get dry, scale back usage.

MAKE FACIALS PART OF YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE
Entertainment execs and working moms Jennifer Worley and Karey Burke partnered with famed Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Lancer to launch Face Haus, a new type of day-spa designed to introduce regular facials into your skincare routine.  With facials starting at $65, the hope is that busy moms and young girls will now be more likely to care for their skin as often as they get manicures.  There are currently 3 LA locations in Studio City, West Hollywood, and recently-opened USC Village.

CALM YOUR SKIN CONDITIONS

Kamedis has multiple skin care lines specifically targeted towards problems including eczema, acne, and scalp conditions which can all be brought about by changes in climate.  My friend recently tried the eczema products which successfully cleared up his eczema.  Differing from typical topical treatments prescribed by doctors, the Kamedis line offers a full treatment plan including shower wash, cream, and calming gel.

MINERAL BASED FOUNDATION/SUNSCREEN
Bare Minerals Medium Beige Original Foundation is my go-to for a simple summer makeup routine– 30 seconds and you are good to go for the day!  As someone who is allergic to sunscreen, I can only wear mineral-based sunscreen on my face so the SPF 15 included here protects me without irritating my skin.

GET MISTED AT NIKKI BEACH
If you aren’t glowing from the inside out after spending a day sipping Rosé on a daybed and dancing on the sand in Miami at Nikki Beach, then there is no hope you will ever have glowing skin.
