The Brent Shapiro Foundation for Drug Prevention held its 14th annual Summer Spectacular on Saturday, September 21st at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Famed Los Angeles lawyer Robert Shapiro and wife, Linell, created the Brent Shapiro Foundation and Brent’s Club following their son Brent’s death to honor his life and promote prevention and awareness of chemical dependence. The foundation’s mission is to save lives through awareness and effective programs that incentivize kids to abstain from drugs and alcohol.
The lavish Beverly Hills affair raised an impressive amount of funds through a lively dinner auction which included prizes like Lakers Floor Seats ($32K), getway to the St. Regis in Aspen ($25K), dinner at Mr. Chow donated by the owner who was in attendance, vacation at the Brando Resort ($27K), original Marilyn Monroe photograph ($30K), brand new Portofino Ferrari ($285K), and signed Louboutin pumps. The funds raised support 5200 kids nationwide at 20 Brent’s Clubs. 10 scholarship recipients were in attendance and announced onstage as well as 3 current college students, who each received full-tuition scholarships, told personal stories about challenging upbringings and how Brent’s Club kept them on the right path.
